How to find the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Selecting the perfect rental in the Currituck area:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Pet Friendly! Magnificent Newer Home! 6 BR Sleeps 18, Ocean Views, Pool, Hot-tub has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Have a great stay:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
