Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental experience:
When to reserve a Currituck rental & When to go:
- To get the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Currituck visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by having your family commit to the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Canalfront 6BR home w\/ pool & hot tub on the beautiful 4x4 beaches of Carova! has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If not, email the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your invoice.
Considerations for your stay:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
