Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Currituck vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Corolla. To find the best value, try changing your family's Currituck vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many property management companies supply Currituck area travel guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, picking, and booking the perfect Currituck rental home:
- Select your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanside, Hot Tub, Screened Porch, Wild Horses, 4x504, Sol Searcher has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Considerations for your stay:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
