How to book the best vacation property experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- To find the largest rental for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Currituck attractions.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. WHO IS READY FOR SUNSHINE AND SAND?! PACK YOUR SENSE OF ADVENTURE & COME VISIT! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is optimal for your trip.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Have a fantastic stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
