Our top Currituck rental booking tips and tricks:

Find your perfect rental:

  • Reserve your vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Currituck area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Selecting the best rental home in the Currituck area:

  • Begin by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Canal front. 4WD area. Hot tub. Screened-in porch. Large deck. Game room. has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is suitable for your group.
  • If there's a specific Currituck beach you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.

Tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
