Tips and Tricks to get the best Currituck vacation home experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Corolla. To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Currituck visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Choosing and booking the best Currituck rental home:
- First and foremost, have your group choose a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanside, Wild Horses, 4x4 area, Secluded, 4x2330, Wild Horse Landing has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's an individual Currituck destination you simply love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Tips for a great stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
