Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Currituck vacation property experience:
Finding your best deal:
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summer time is high season in the Currituck area. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting and booking yourvacation home:
- Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Salty Mermaid Lodge: Newly built 2023, Panoramic views, 4X4 area has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Currituck vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- If there's a particular Currituck beach you are enamored with, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
