Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Summer is high season in Corolla. To book the largest rental for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Currituck restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing the best vacation rental:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Canalfront, water views, wild horses! 4x512, No Bad Days has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your trip.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. text the host right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
