Finding the best rental home experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- Summer is high season in the Currituck area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Currituck vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and choosing yourrental:
- To start, have your group agree to trip dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Summer Paws Private pool New pool loungers!! Hot tub Nice decks 4x4 pets has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
More considerations:
- Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
