Our Little Getaway
Welcome to our modest ocean front bungalow! Simple beach living awaits you in this adorable, 3 bed, 2 bath home. Just 250 feet of gently rolling dunes lay between you and the beach. Home is a new listing on Vacation Rental By Owner platform. See our 5 star reviews on another platform! Our home is in the remote 4WD area of Currituck County NC. Family friendly. Pet friendly. If you are looking for the hustle and bustle of an Atlantic Boardwalk, this place is not for you. Come spend time with nature including our wild horses. Precious memories await you!!
The space
This ocean front bungalow has been located in the dunes of North Swan Beach, Corolla NC for nearly 50 years. She has seen it all yet stands adorably firm against the elements. Sturdy, modern, clean, comfortable, private accommodations await you here.

Striking vistas! Sunrises and sunsets are spectacular. Wild horses roam complimentary and will occasionally visit you at the bungalow. In fact, one of the newest additions to the Corolla Wild Horse herd was just born a few hundred yards from our home this spring. She has been in our yard and is adorable!!

We are located off road in the 4-Wheel Drive area. Your car must have 4WD or AWD with high enough clearance to get through soft sand. There are no paved roads here.

Sit on the wrap around porch with your morning coffee or your evening drink and take in what nature has offered you. The pelicans will glide by. The osprey will fish. The dolphins will frolic. The songs of a content mockingbird may greet you throughout the day or even the charming call of a whippoorwill in the evenings. Just a short 2-min. walk off of the front porch will have your toes in the water of the Atlantic Ocean.

April through mid October the bungalow is available for a minimum of 7 nights from Saturday to Saturday. Mid October through March the bungalow is available for a minimum of 3 nights. Off season check in days may vary based on your needs.

The bungalow is non-smoking. We are pet friendly and charge $100 for up to two dogs during your stay.

Beach parking permits are required when parking at the water’s edge from the Friday before Memorial Day through mid September. We will provide you with that parking pass. The bungalow is oceanfront so parking on the water’s edge is not necessary if you are traveling light for the day. When you do choose to put your coolers, chairs, body boards, etc. into your car for the big beach day and you do park at the water’s edge, you will need that parking permit. Another beauty of your accommodations is that you are just a fast walk to the bungalow for a bathroom break or a kid’s nap. You will be able to see your car from the comfort of the home. You do not need a parking permit to drive in the 4x4 area or park at our bungalow.

Sheets, bath towels, kitchen towels, blankets and pillows are included, gas grille w/propane supplied, TV in all bedrooms and living room, Netflix, DVD players, and Wi-Fi.

All homes in the 4x4 area are on individual wells. While the water here is 100% safe, clean, and reliable, it may not have that “city water” feel to it. Guests may wish to purchase bottled water for drinking purposes. We are on a good well with a good water conditioner so you will be in great shape with this home.
Guest access
Entire home is for the guests stay. Unlimited parking is available in the west yard.
If you have a non-4WD car, off beach parking is available at Corolla Parking for 100.00 for a week. The address is: 1221 Ponton Lane Corolla NC. Contact us for the phone number.

Our top Rental property booking tips:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Currituck area. To get the best value, try shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Currituck area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Currituck visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and picking the right Currituck rental home:

  • Start by having your family choose trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Ocean Front! 4x4 area of OBX! Private, Dog friendly, Affordable, Wild Horses! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
