Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- To find the most suitable vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Currituck visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. North Shore, Newer Luxurious 4x4,Elevator, Pool\/Hot Tub has 6 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before booking the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
