Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Currituck rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in Corolla. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to choose the best rental home in the Currituck area:

  • Start by selecting your a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. 4x4 Corolla, Waterfront, Dock, Wild Horses, Kayak has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your family.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's a certain Currituck destination you simply love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Have a great stay:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Upon arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
